Ocean Kayak Cabo - Double Kayak
Selling: Cabo Kayak, 2x seats, 2x basic split paddles.
NOTE: If you don't need or want the paddles, the kayak & seats are $600. The paddles are new and I can return them.
To buy new: $1,900
Made in: America, I think. Certainly designed in America.
Condition: Good. Minor scuffs and scratches on the hull. All fittings and fixtures, ie, deck lines, hatch seals, rudder mechanism and cables are all in good condition. With a basic fresh-water hosing after use, this boat shouldn't need maintenance for many years.
Age: 10 to 15 years at a guess.
History: I bought this boat second-hand about 10-12 years ago from Adelaide Canoe Works as an ex-demo boat. I have always had it stored under cover or inside.
Damage: At some point before I bought it, two areas on the right side of the deck had some damage which was repaired with plastic-welding. The repair is good and solid, but not the most neat. Last two pictures for reference.
For your information: Life jackets (PFDs) are required by law while kayaking. It's a $380 fine to be caught without them. I'm not selling life jackets with the boat because like clothing, you need to get some that are the correct size for you. (And I still use mine.)
My research on this boat: The Ocean Kayak Cabo was developed in the 1980's as one of the first sit-on-top kayaks, used by scuba-divers to access off-shore dive sites. Consequently, this boat is very stable in both flat-water and moderate ocean conditions, holds loads of gear, and is exceptionally fast for a sit-on-top. It's a popular kayak among fishermen, but I haven't used it for fishing. As an experienced sea kayaker, I've happily paddled it in 1 meter rolling ocean swell. It has a huge front hatch and a large storage well at the back with webbing straps. This one
